Production Interns Needed for Equity Theatre Company
Stageworks Theater, the only Equity theater within Columbia, Greene and northern Dutchess counties, is looking for production interns to help within all facets of their organization for their 2009 Season. Which includes 3 world premieres and a regional premiere! Must be organized, quick on their feet, friendly, and not afraid of "grunt" work. Assistant Stagemanager/ Understudy EMC credits available. Learn by working hands on with Theatre Professionals in your field. A Stipend and free dormitory-style housing is available.
Stageworks is an excellent place to work filled with wonderful employees - with a very strong work ethic. All applicants should have the same mentality. Internship duties will include:
- Assisting the stage manager with many tasks that would change daily based on what is needed.
- Helping to build the set, run cabling and help with other technical aspects of the production.
- Helping stage manager with blocking and spiking the set.
- Helping actors with lines.
- Finding props.
- Writing press releases.
- Helping with a variety of marketing tasks including contacting groups about ticket discounts and placing flyers, postcards and brochures.
- During the runs you would most likely operate lights or sound (it's a lot easier than it sounds).
- Pretty much everything that goes into making a theater company work besides the acting.
What you get in return:
- You would receive a $50 weekly stipend
- Dormitory style housing. (Transportation, food and personal items are not provided.)
- You would also be listed as ASM/Understudy for every show you participated in.
- The invaluable experience of being able to work with some of the finest Equity actors from NYC and beyond.
- Most importantly, for every week that you work for us you would receive a point toward getting your Equity card! You need 50 weeks/points to become a member of the Actors Equity Association.
